We are not sheep.

As I ready this excellent diary by sun dog, I applauded the dkos community's efforts to self-police the BS. WE ARE NOT SHEEP. As diaries fly past us at lightening speed, we cannot ever let down our critical thinking skills.
This is a powerful community. Not only progressives know that. As sun dog so aptly pointed out, those that want to reck havoc with our movement can use forums like dkos to launder information--putting out bad information to be discredited in a redux of Rathergate.
DO NOT EVER LET DOWN YOUR GUARD. Click on links--don't just assume they say what a poster says they says, check out sources, and by ALL MEANS, question, question, question. Don't recommend a diary just because you WANT it to be true, but because you've checked out the sourcing and BELIEVE it credible. If something sounds like manna from heavan, give it extra scrutiny before you blast it far and wide. Those that hate what we are about will use your passion against you unless you guard it zealously with critical thinking.
We Love DEAN--Day 2
Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 08:45:24 AM PDT
Yesterday, we launched a money bomb in support of Howard Dean after several Clinton donors have pulled/threatened to pull donations if the DNC doesn't resolve the FL impasse to their liking.
See details here:
McAuliffe ambushing Dean?
We raised about $10K so far (including money before Glinda's Act Blue and Pattyp's DNC fundraising page).
Please keep this going and rec this up if you love Howard like I love Howard! Spread the word, remember to call our Dem leaders (see diary above for contact #s), and post your actions in this thread.

McAuliffe ambushing Dean?--update IV Need Action
Sat Mar 15, 2008 at 06:11:12 AM PDT
I've been concerned for a while that the Obama/Clinton contest is becoming a surrogate battle between the Dean and McAuliffe wings of the DNC. It is a battle between those that believe in the "important states" vs. "the other 40", between DLCers and DFAers, between an addiction to corporate/special interest money and those that believe that small donors in vast numbers are democracy at its most powerful.
What I read in the NYT today, makes me concerned that McAuliffe and those that he represents are trying to ambush Dean using Clinton donors.
The NetRoots helped Dean get where he is today. With the DNC coffers very low right now, he is under attack. He needs us.

THANKS KOS for the best coverage last night!!
Wed Nov 08, 2006 at 04:41:14 AM PDT
I didn't think I could bear to watch the returns at all, but I did--channel surfing the TV with the laptop on my lap. Daily Kos sported by far the best coverage of all. Not only was it so well organized with info easy to find, minus all the talking head crap the TV was dishing out, I didn't get one single denial of service error nor did I experience any perceptible slow down in the site.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
My greatest thanks to all at Daily Kos who made that happen last night. I can't wait to see the site stats.
How did you watch the coverage unfold last night? Post your story here.
Outing Plame vs. Outing WILSON'S WIFE
Mon Jul 11, 2005 at 04:32:23 AM PDT
In parsing Karl Rove's lawyer's latest statements about what his client did/did not do, we have the clear hints of their latest defense:
I never told them Plame's NAME.

A "Modest Proposal" for Iraq
Wed Nov 24, 2004 at 04:31:02 AM PDT
I'd like to share with you the following essay, written by M.T. DiVencenzo (a writer friend of mine), in the satirical spririt of Jonathan Swift. She offers a Modest Proposal "for concluding the war in Iraq, maintaining the peace, bringing American troops home, keeping our nation safe and solving our most pressing social and economic matters."
